$32.15 - $48.23 Hourly

$66,880 - $100,320 Annually

Why does the job exist?

 

The Care and Behavioral Support Specialist Supervisor position provides direct supervision, guidance, and leadership to a team of Care and Behavioral Support Specialists.. This position ensures that children and youth in state custody receive consistent, high-quality supervision and care during placement transitions.  The supervisor leads the Care and Behavioral Support Specialists  who provide direct care and behavioral support  using trauma-responsive methods. The children/adolescents in the program may experience heightened emotional or behavioral responses related to past trauma. They are cared for in a short term, transitional setting, where trauma informed approaches are essential to support their safety, stability and healing.

How does it get done?

 

  • Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to a team of Care and Behavioral Support Specialist.
  • Manage staff performance, including regular supervision, coaching, training, and professional development to build trauma-responsive skills and effective documentation practices.
  • Oversees daily program operations, including nutrition and meal preparation, medication administration, safety and hygiene standards, daily program development, appropriate staffing levels.
  • Develops and implements safety protocols for staff and youth, ensuring consistent procedures for crisis response, transportation and environmental safety.
  • Coordinate life skills activities, such as wellness routines, menu planning and therapeutic or recreational outings that promotes stability and self-sufficiency.
  • Maintains and monitors program resources, including budgets, supplies, transportation, medication, personal belongings of clients,
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation including incident reports, medication logs, and communication with leadership to support program accountability and quality improvement.

Who are the customers?

 

Care and Behavioral Support Specialist provides direct care and supervision to children and adolescents during times of placement disruption or transition from one place to another. Providing respite and care for individuals when needed.

Experience as it relates to:

  • Supervising and supporting staff including managing performance and responding effectively to escalated situations.
  • Providing leadership grounded in critical thinking, problem solving, and sound judgment.
  • Implementing trauma-responsive and strength-based practices to promote stability for children and adolescents.
  • Managing staff schedules and program operations through strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Collaborating with community partners and multidisciplinary teams to enhance services and support coordinated care.
  • Evaluating staff performance and providing effective feedback and coaching to promote professional growth.

  • Demonstrating cultural responsiveness when working with diverse populations.
  • Ensuring accurate and thorough documentation.

Minimum Qualification

 

Bachelor's Degree in social work, education, counseling, psychology, sociology, criminal justice, or family services from an accredited college/university and three (3) years of any combination of experience including working with communities on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health, and/or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

 

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.  

Working Conditions

 

Work is performed in an office setting: late hours, weekends, on-call and callback work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel is required. Possible exposure to irate clientele. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints.
