Research Technician - Neuracell Core Facility at Neural Stem Cell Institute

Position Overview
We are seeking a researcher to take a leadership role in human pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiations. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of our stem cell core facility while gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies. As part of our collaborative team, you will contribute to impactful research and receive comprehensive training and mentorship designed to advance your skills and accelerate your career growth.

You will have the chance to participate in multiple projects within a nonprofit institute affiliated with regional and national academic organizations. Current projects include neural progenitor cell production, regional brain organoid manufacturing and neural-vascular modeling. Primary responsibilities include supporting laboratory research and ensuring rigorous quality control.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Maintenance of cell lines, including human pluripotent stem cells 
  • Conducting iPSC differentiation, including neural, microglia and vascular differentiations  
  • Performing quality control measurements for iPSC derived cell products using techniques such ELISAs, RT-qPCR, immunostaining and microscopy. 
  • Prepare and maintain stock solutions and inventories 
  • Maintain rigorous lab notebook and electronic records. 
  • Assist with data preparation for publication. 
  • Follow lab safety protocols. 
  • Learn and master new techniques and procedures as needed. 

  

Required Qualifications: 

Bachelor or Master’s degree in Life Sciences preferred or an associate with experience in biology, bioengineering, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, or cell biology, or related subject. 

  • Must be personable, flexible, proactive, demonstrated a positive “can do” attitude, possess excellent organizational and communication skills and take pride in their work. 
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with peers and senior investigators. 
  • Ability to maintain a comprehensive, up to date, and accurate research lab notebook. Visual concentration, attention to detail and manual dexterity are required. 
  • Must be willing to learn new laboratory skills. 
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment to accomplish the required tasks.
  • Should be comfortable with basic computer programs such as MS Word and Excel. 
  • Able to work under general supervision and proceed alone on regular tasks. 

  

Preferred Qualifications: Familiar with basic sterile cell culture techniques and experience in molecular biology assays (RT-qPCR, immunostaining, microscopy).
