What You Will Do

Are you ready for the challenges and rewards of a summer camp role? As an important contributor to the Piney Run Summer Camp, you will supervise campers as they engage in activities and projects. Under the direction of the Camp Director, your enthusiasm in fostering learning will ensure a memorable summer experience. You will impact the County's Recreation and Parks by supporting camp activities at Piney Run.

Essential Duties

  • Create and implement lesson plans and activities according to given objectives. Submit curriculum activities to Camp Director.
  • Direct the campers in designing a suitable display or performance to be presented on the last day of each camp session.
  • Prepare and lead opening and closing ceremonies.
  • Clean and restock work areas. Complete closing duties before the end of the last day of camp.
  • Attend camp staff orientation and participate in scheduled staff meetings.
  • Receive and act upon suggestions made by camp director and assistant director.
  • Uphold all policies and regulations imposed by Park Management and the Camp Director. Use park property and Nature Center and Nature Camp equipment responsibly.
  • Complete assigned work in a timely fashion. Accept feedback.
  • Demonstrate an ability to collaborate and a willingness to learn. Participate in a supportive work environment.
  • Exhibit integrity, ethics, and fiscal responsibility.

Education and Experience

  • Up to one year of related experience

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Successfully complete all employer-provided training, including CPR, AED, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certification

Additional Information

  • Must be either 16 years of age or older or have successfully completed the 10th grade.
  • Requires criminal background check as condition of employment.
  • Work schedule includes weekends and holidays.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions.
  • Frequent physical activity: standing/walking, pushing/pulling, bending, reaching, lifting and carrying, climbing steps, squatting, stooping, and related activities.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE as required.
