IT Support Intern
Learning Objectives
By the end of the internship, the IT Support Intern will have the opportunity to:
Gain hands-on experience providing technical support in a professional IT environment
Develop practical troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and basic network-related issues
Learn best practices for IT customer service and end-user support
Become familiar with enterprise operating systems, including Windows 11, and productivity tools such as Microsoft Office 365
Understand IT asset management processes, including hardware installation, relocation, and peripheral support
Build experience creating technical documentation and standard operating procedures
Improve professional communication, time management, and teamwork skills within an IT department
Qualifications
High school diploma required; prior IT or computer-related coursework preferred
Currently enrolled in a college or university program related to Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
Strong interest in information technology systems, infrastructure, and applications
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent customer service orientation
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Effective time management and organizational skills
Working knowledge of operating systems (Windows 11) and software applications such as Microsoft Office 365
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
Responsibilities
The IT Support Intern will assist with daily tasks and operations within the Information Technology department, including the following:
Provide technical support and customer service under general supervision, applying a high level of professionalism and technical aptitude
Install, configure, and support desktop software and web-based applications as appropriate
Perform installation, relocation, additions, and changes (IMAC) for desktop hardware and peripherals
Create and maintain documentation for tasks and procedures that do not already have established configuration guidelines
Establish and maintain effective communication with customers throughout the lifecycle of support requests
Perform other related duties as assigned
Position Details
Part-time position, approximately 20–25 hours per week
Monday through Thursday schedule
On-site position (remote work NOT available)
Must have reliable transportation to commute to the work location
Position is intended for college students/interns
