The Role: Your Impact & Responsibilities
The Estimator is the critical link between our customers' needs and our plant's capability. You are responsible for the prompt, precise, and profitable turnaround of inquiries for our custom-engineered construction products.
Core Responsibility
Key Activities
Drive Profitability & Growth
Proactively identify and source new customer opportunities through strategic e-marketing, targeted cold calling, and representing the company at industry trade shows.
Technical Translation & Precision
Decode complex technical drawings and blueprints to accurately determine specifications, product design, and precise material quantities required to meet rigorous bid requirements.
Timely & Accurate Quoting
Utilize Epicor ERP and advanced analytical tools to provide timely and accurate quotes, including lead and delivery times for both standard and highly custom-designed infrastructure projects.
Cross-Functional Strategy
Collaborate directly with Plant Management and Engineering to accurately specify and allocate labor resources, ensuring quotes align with plant capacity and material limitations.
Customer Partnership
Establish, maintain, and enhance relationships with key clients. Act as the primary technical consultant for customers, resolving uncertainties and clarifying project needs through consultation, site visits, and clear professional communication.
Continuous Improvement
Conduct post-job evaluations to assess profitability, identify production bottlenecks, and provide constructive feedback to continuously improve estimating and manufacturing processes.
What You Bring: Key Skills & Qualifications
· Analytical Powerhouse: Exceptional math skills and the proven ability to accurately evaluate and manipulate detailed specifications. Heavy reliance on Epicor ERP and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for complex data modeling.
· Technical Acumen: The ability to not just read, but interpret and master technical drawings, blueprints, and material specifications. A strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes, plant capabilities, and steel material limitations is essential.
· Laser Focus & Detail Orientation: Diligence is non-negotiable. You must ensure that every aspect of the estimation process—from material grade ($A572$) to complex cuts—is accurately incorporated into every estimate.
· Executive Communication: Superior verbal and written communication skills to draft detailed reports and professionally manage customer expectations, ensuring customer satisfaction from initial inquiry to final delivery.
· Time Management & Agility: Demonstrated ability to prioritize urgent requests and consistently achieve rapid quote turnaround times while working effectively under strict project deadlines.
