Publishing Sales and E-Commerce Intern

Casa Carlini is offering a Sales Internship for someone curious about how independent publishing actually works—from the inside, not from a textbook. This is a hands-on role for a student or early-career candidate who wants real exposure to book sales, partnerships, and audience growth across a diverse catalog of literary, nonfiction, and cultural titles.

Casa Carlini is a New York–based independent publisher working across literature, ideas, history, and contemporary debate. We publish thoughtfully, market carefully, and believe sales is as much about understanding readers as it is about numbers.

What you’ll do

Support sales outreach to bookstores, libraries, distributors, and online partners

Help optimize our direct-to-consumer sales channels, including our website’s e-commerce pages (product listings, descriptions, pricing, and conversion flow)

Assist with managing and improving omnichannel sales platforms such as Etsy and similar marketplaces

Research and identify new sales channels and partnership opportunities

Track orders, sales reports, and basic performance metrics across platforms

Support promotional campaigns tied to new releases and backlist titles

Help maintain clean sales records, product data, and customer contact lists

What you’ll learn

How independent publishers sell books outside of big corporate systems

How e-commerce optimization impacts discoverability and conversion

The role of omnichannel strategy in modern publishing sales

How to read sales data without losing sight of human readers

Practical skills in outreach, follow-ups, and professional communication

Who this is for

Students or recent graduates interested in publishing, media, marketing, or business

Strong written communication skills and attention to detail

Comfortable working with spreadsheets, dashboards, and basic analytics

Curious, reliable, and willing to learn

A genuine interest in books and ideas is essential
