Research & Project Management Intern (Remote): Ukraine Nonprofit

Term: Flexible. Minimum duration: At least 3 months. Interns who successfully fulfil the program requirements will have the opportunity to extend.

About DAWN:
DAWN is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Oregon, working to deliver humanitarian aid to Ukraine, support refugees, and preserve Ukrainian culture during wartime.
Position Summary:
As a Research & Project Management Intern, you will play a critical role in supporting our operations, taking ownership of projects, building our internal procedures and documentation, and (optional) helping to manage volunteers working on specific projects. Your work will enable projects that support Ukraine’s resilience and future.
This position is ideal for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience in: nonprofit operations, applied research, and institutional knowledge management.
Optional: Volunteers who wish to gain experience in team management will be given the opportunity to lead small groups of volunteers, in a supportive framework and with consistent mentorship from the DAWN admin team.
Responsibilities
You will have the opportunity to select ONE OR MORE of the following:
- Conducting open-source research and indexing findings (usually in a spreadsheet)
- Writing well-sourced articles for online publication
- Organizing internal information
- Drafting and maintaining templates, procedures, and resource documents for team use
- Supporting event planning (e.g., researching vendors, contacting venues, identifying sponsors, task tracking & coordination)
- Helping coordinate task progress in or across teams (optional)
Mandatory: Attending one or more check-in video calls per week. Scheduling of these calls can be very flexible to suit your needs. This position is also suitable for people working odd hours.
Desired qualifications:
- Passion for Ukraine’s cultural, environmental, and humanitarian issues
- Precision and reliability - strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Ability to read, absorb, and implement complex written instructions
- Familiarity with tools like Google Sheets, Docs, and Drive
