Position Overview We are seeking motivated individuals with a sales mindset to join as a Freight Broker Trainee. The role begins with a 3-month focus on load coordination to build foundational knowledge in freight operations. Upon successful completion, you will transition to a full Freight Broker position, emphasizing sales, account development, and client management with opportunities for uncapped commissions. This position offers substantial earning potential for those with strong sales skills, a personable demeanor, and a competitive drive to pursue and close opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter and manage shipments in our transportation management system (TMS).
- Schedule pickups and deliveries, coordinate with shippers and carriers, and post loads to load boards.
- Monitor shipments, resolve any issues, and ensure timely execution.
- Deliver high-quality customer service to all stakeholders.
- After 3 months: Engage in sales activities, including prospecting new clients, negotiating rates, and building a personal portfolio of accounts.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a related field preferred).
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn new software quickly (prior experience with TMS or load boards is advantageous).
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
- No prior freight experience required; comprehensive training will be provided.
- Must be available for in-office work in St. Peters, MO, with reliable transportation.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting base salary: $35,000 annually.
- Eligibility for a performance-based bonus program after 3 months.
- Uncapped commissions upon transitioning to the broker role, structured as follows: Commissions start when monthly profit reaches $10,000, with the rate increasing by 0.5% for each additional $1,000 in profit, capping at 25% once profit hits $50,000 (the percentage rate maxes out, but total bonus potential remains unlimited based on higher volumes). Earnings depend on individual performance and market conditions, with successful brokers often earning $100,000 to $200,000 annually, and some exceeding $200,000—including current team members making more than $200,000.
