Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

Work Overview

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant assists in the implementation of occupational therapy services to patients in accordance to the plan of care and under the direction and supervision of a qualified occupational therapist. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans activities and provides therapeutic services for occupational therapy
  • Records type of treatment and patient's reaction to it in patient notes, which are written on the day of the visit and incorporated in the patients record weekly
  • Follow guidelines for supervision as outlined by the State Board for Occupational Therapy
  • Track and follow authorized visits according to what had been allowed by insurance and in plan of care

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant state license
  • Experience with pediatrics
  • Active CPR/BLS Certification
