Spring Internship at Public Health Non for Profit (IPHS)

The Institute for Population Health Sciences is looking for interns for Spring Semester 2026 who are interested in public health, research and/or community engagement.

This position is open to students of all levels who have had some prior research experience. 

This position will be mostly remote and flexible to work around intern's class schedules. Internship will be held between Monday, March 16th through Friday, May 29th.

Interns will be working 15-20 hours a week within one or more of the areas below based on interest and prior expertise:

• Developing social media posts and schedules for IPHS, including public facing communication about pressing population health issues
• Assisting in grant writing and development for both private & government funders
• Creation of information materials on common health questions such as cancer screening, nutrition, mental health, cardiometabolic condition, violence prevention, social determinants of health, and etc for public distribution
• Connecting with local Chicago and IL community programs
• Assistance with public health database development and data cleaning

Ideal candidates should have:

• Experiences in health equity, community development, and other topics within population health and health care
• Core prior courses in quantitative and qualitative research methodology
• Prior experiences in scientific publication, research reports and scientific presentations
• Prior experiences in grant writing (federal, state and foundation grants)
• Skilled social media and marketing experiences to promote organizational mission
• Entrepreneurial in spirit, interested in helping expand reach of a new non for profit organization
• Strong organizational skills to provide administrative support, attention to granular details in tasks and empathetic communicators

Interns will receive a stipend of $1,000 on completion on this internship if not using internship for college credit.
