Athletic Event Staff

Oakland University Athletics has a need for athletic event staff team members to assist with and perform duties needed for the execution of athletic contests, internal and external events. Work may be intermittent throughout the year based on the schedule of events and staffing needs.

Ability To:

·       Work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities

·       Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and other event staff

·       Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, extended (long) work days and extended numbers of days in a row

Job Functions:

·       Provide daily operational support for the Athletics Facility and Event staff

·       Perform event set ups and breakdowns

·       Serve in various support roles for athletic contests/rental groups, including, but not limited to scoreboard operator, usher, ball person, court sweeper, building manager, soft security, parking attendant, concessions, etc.

·       The essential functions of this position are performed indoors and outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environments can range from minimal to loud during events depending on the employee’s location, and is minimal during non-event times.

This person must be highly motivated, have great communication skills, people-person, dependable and exhibit great customer service skills. This position requires long periods of standing. An athletic background is preferred, but not required.
