The Hospice and Palliative Pastoral Counselor provides spiritual support and counseling for patients and families facing life limiting illness. The pastoral counselor coordinates spiritual care and community resource needs in collaboration with the Hospice and Palliative Care Interdisciplinary Group (IDG). The Hospice and Palliative Pastoral Counselor demonstrates critical thinking, analysis, and clinical judgment in all aspects of hospice and palliative care delivery for patients and families experiencing life limiting illness. This includes addressing the spiritual, social, and emotional needs of patients and families to improve quality of life and reduce suffering

Position:

Hospice Pastoral Counselor

Shift:

Full Time; 8:30 am to 5:00 pm; every 6th weekend

Experience:

One year pastoral care experience in health care setting preferred.

Hospice or palliative care experience preferred

Education:

Clinical Pastoral Education or equivalent theologian education.

Master of Divinity, Master of Theology, Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling, or related degree preferred.

Licensures/Certifications:

Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.

Current CPR certification.

Palliative Care Chaplaincy Certificate preferred.

Board Certified Chaplain by one of the following preferred:

  • Association for Professional Chaplains (APC)
  • National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC)
  • National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC)
