Description

The Mountou Lab at UT Southwestern medical center, is seeking a motivated Research Scientist (I or II) or/and Research Associate to join a newly established team studying the underlying mechanisms that regulate persistent affective states in both healthy and diseased mouse models. This position offers opportunities for authorship, collaboration, and advanced scientific and personal training within one of the top biomedical research institutions.

Prior experience with rodents, molecular biology, cloning and sterile techniques. Responsible, with strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills. Prior experience with mouse surgery, cloning, calcium imaging, as well as MATLAB, Python, or cloud-based data analyses is preferred.

 

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Bioengineering, Chemistry, or a related field.

 

Appointment

Full-time; initial one-year term renewable based on performance. Two-year commitment preferred. Positions are available for both experienced and less experienced candidates, including those planning future careers in graduate school, medical school, or biotech.

Duties

-Maintain rodent colonies and genotyping.

-Manage lab operations (solutions, ordering, equipment maintenance).

-Histology/Immunohistochemistry.

-Operate SolidWorks and 3D printing.

-Conduct basic molecular biology and cloning.

-Assist with surgeries and behavioral assays.
