Movie Mobile Unit Recreation Specialist

Since 2009, the mobile movie van has provided free outdoor movies in underserved neighborhoods in all five Boroughs. The van is
equipped with a state of the art $40K audio / video system, a 14’X8’ small screen and a 20'x11’ inflatable screen. You may also be
required to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Drive to and from garage to various Parks around the five boroughs
• Set up and break down of movie screen and audio equipment
• Work closely with Parks Managers and borough coordinators to insure that movie showings are professionally implemented
• Evaluate movie sites and insure that locations are safe and feasible
• Maintain accurate records such as daily vehicle trip ticket, van inventory and program sign in sheets
• Maintain mobile unit vehicle keep van neat and organized. Keep inventory of equipment and update citywide and borough
coordinator on repairs needed of vehicle and replacement of supplies.
 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Three years of participation in an art, craft or other recreational pursuit as a teacher, performer, coach, official, contestant or
demonstrator, including at least one year of experience in that art, craft or recreational pursuit to be performed on the job, as
described below; or
2. Major study in that art, craft or other recreational pursuit to be performed on the job, as described below, acquired
in a high school, college or other appropriate institution over at least a three year period; or
3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience or education in that art, craft or recreational pursuit to be
performed on the job, as described below.
 

PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
1. At least two years’ experience working with a variety of audio/visual equipment including but not limited to video conferencing
units, LCDs, laptop computers, and amplification systems.
2. Experience with live event production and audio visual technical experience, including some previous supervisory experience.
3. Credits towards a degree from an accredited college or certification from a technical training school specialization in audio video
Multi-media productions or a related subject.
4. Demonstrate extensive knowledge of audiovisual equipment and computer software systems.
5. Experience working with public in a community setting.
6. Must hold a valid NYS license.
7. Driving knowledge of New York City.
