HR/Bookkeeper

Seeking a Bookkeeper/Human Resource Specialist for an immediate full-time management team position. Must have experience with QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, Paylocity, Employee Navigator, E-Verify and other related programs to maintain accurate company's financials and carry out accounting duties.

Must have a solid background in Human Resource management and associated protocols including benefit management and management of various employee types--permanent and seasonal, OT exempt and non-exempt, wage and salary earners.

Position works very closely with owner to provide timely financial reporting.

We are Plant Delights Nursery/Juniper Level Botanic Garden, a 40 year old perennial plant mail order nursery and botanic garden. Our nursery and garden provide an opportunity to work indoors and outdoors year-round, so we have a casual dress code, a diverse staff, and a friendly working environment.

The ideal candidate will have the requisite abilities to perform the following duties:

 

Accounting:

  • Payables and receivables management
  • Reconciling and balancing financial statements
  • Banking
  • Financial reporting
  • Multi-state sales tax filing and management
  • Manage general liability insurance requirements including audits
  • Coordinating with the CPA

 

Payroll Management:

  • Payroll processing and reporting
  • Auditing timesheets
  • Auditing biweekly, quarterly and annual payroll filings
  • Simple IRA program management

 

 

 

Human Resources:

  • Recruiting, screening and verifying
  • On boarding
  • Maintain good employee relations
  • Maintain confidential employee files
  • Employee benefits management, including open enrollments
  • Management of paid and non-paid employee leave types
  • Liaison for various employee and company insurers 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Clean driver’s license 
  • Experience in retail sales and customer service preferred
  • Plant knowledge is helpful, but not required


Employee Classification: salary, exempt, permanent, full-time

Compensation: Salary: $48,000 to $52,000 annually based upon experience

Standard Business Hours: Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm plus 9 open nursery and garden event weekends each year
