Are you looking for a PAID summer internship?

Applications are now open for the North Carolina Summer 2026 Internship Program. This is a PAID summer internship. Applications close on January 30, 2026.

About the Internship at the CSS Neuse Museum:

Job Duties: The intern will have the chance to develop skills and grow professionally by learning the responsibilities of museum staff.
This includes performing research and analysis, handling and caring for artifacts, understanding how museum collections
are used for field trips and public events, and delivering public presentations

Major Task to be Performed:

The intern will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge regarding various facets of collection management and informal education at the museum. This encompasses participating in online collections care and management courses, helping with public and homeschool programs, and community outreach initiatives. Additional responsibilities include conducting historical research,
developing documents using Word and Excel, performing data entry, and creating video content. The intern will also have the opportunity to complete sensory certification training through KultureCity.

Final Product or Outcome Anticipated: The intern will collaborate with our collections staff to digitize more of the artifacts within our museum collection for online accessibility. Furthermore, they will develop weekly social media content to showcase some of the collection items not currently on display and produce a video on artifact analysis that will be added to the CSS Neuse Museum's website as a virtual educational resource. This initiative aims to support the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources' objectives of expanding and enhancing academic excellence and innovation across DNCR’s facilities and programs by facilitating ongoing education and lifelong learning through increased digital access to educational materials, including online exhibits and collections.
