Bilingual Paralegal
Summary
Sarratt & Horta Vorse, P.A. is seeking a Bilingual Paralegal to join our Taylors, SC and Spartanburg, SC office’s teams. As a bilingual paralegal/legal assistant, you will be responsible for working side by side with the firm’s attorneys and managing their day-to-day operations and caseload. This is an in-person, full-time position.
Responsibilities
- Oversee multiple projects, with little oversight from attorneys.
- Provide oversight into attorneys’ calendars to schedule court hearings, pleas, jury trials, continuances, work with opposing counsel to set depositions, mediations, etc.
- Send letters of representation, requests for discovery, send demand letters.
- Stay in contact with clients to notify them of court dates, schedule case updates, gather evidentiary information, affidavits, etc.
- Assist attorneys with setting deadlines and follow up to ensure deadlines are met and matters settle in a timely manner.
- Conduct legal research, file management, and prepare case summaries as needed.
- Prepare legal documents such as complaints, interrogatories, motions, summons, etc.
- E-file documents in federal and state court as needed.
- Contact parties and witnesses, prepare exhibits and other necessary documentation for pre-trial and trial phases.
- Communicate with team members and immediate supervisor attorneys clearly and effectively.
- Conduct in a professional manner and dress appropriately.
- Make positive contributions to maintain a positive culture.
- Communicate job expectations by planning, participating and accepting responsibilities as assigned.
- Assist in other areas as required.
Qualifications
- Associate degree, certificate or equivalent job experience.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Minimum 1 year experience.
- Completion of nationally accredited paralegal program, or close to completion.
- Must possess the ability to multi-task, manage workload, prioritize assignments while maintaining a positive attitude and with minimum supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages. Attention to detail and high level of accuracy is required.
- Extensive computer and database expertise, MS Office, etc.
- Proficiency in calendaring court dates, mediations, hearings and regular meetings to avoid time conflicts for attorneys..
- Applicable knowledge of court procedures, motions, discovery and evidence procedures.
- Be familiar with rules of professional conduct, and comfortable with working in a fast-paced workplace.
- Have a strong work ethic and exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Ability to be a team player and follow procedures.
