Engineering Summer Research Initiative (SURI)

Applications now open for Summer Research Initiative (SURI)! Attend an info session on January 8 or January 13 — applications close February 2, 2026!

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering offers opportunities for qualified students to gain engineering research experience and acquire an in-depth understanding of what it would be like to pursue a doctoral degree through an 8-week (6 weeks in-person + 2 weeks virtual) summer research program. Eligible U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and ASU-sponsored F1/J1 visa students receive a $5,000 stipend and on-campus housing.

Higher priority is given to students between their junior and senior years of their undergraduate degree, as well as students currently pursuing master’s degrees who are considering pursuing a PhD in an engineering program. Students who are freshmen or sophomores are also encouraged to apply. Participants will work under the mentorship of ASU research faculty and have opportunities to network with industry partners, other faculty, and their peers through a variety of events and activities. Program dates for Summer 2026 are TBD.

Applications are currently open, and will close on February 2, 2026.
