Camp Young Judaea – Sprout Lake

CYJ Sprout Lake is a co-ed, pluralist Jewish overnight camp for rising 2nd–8th graders in New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley. Our elective-based program is all about choice, creativity, and community, powered by ruach and grounded in purpose. Our mission? Strengthen Jewish identity, deepen connection to Israel, and inspire kids to believe they can change the world.

Our Staff

Our team is looking to add passionate, thoughtful, and energetic counselors who care deeply about kids, community, and Jewish life. Our staff members are role models, mentors, and leaders; they are people who bring creativity, warmth, and responsibility into everything they do. As a CYJ staff member, you’ll be part of a collaborative, values-driven team that believes camp changes lives, including yours!

Our Roles

General Counselors: General Counselors live with a cabin of campers and help guide their days, from electives and meals to games, songs, and nighttime routines. 

Lifeguards/Counselors: Lifeguard/Counselors oversee swim activities and water safety while also participating fully in camp life as counselors. If you are interested in this role, we can provide lifeguard certification!

Ceramics Instructor/Counselor: This individual will guide campers through clay projects while also serving as counselors and role models in the broader camp community.

Gardening Instructor/Counselor: Lead our gardening elective, guiding campers through hands-on experiences like planting, growing, and caring for the garden.

Ropes Course Instructor: This individual will facilitate high and low ropes elements, encourage personal growth, and help campers push past comfort zones in a safe, supportive environment.

Gymnastic Instructor/Counselor: Lead the gymnastics elective, helping campers build strength, confidence, and body awareness in a fun, supportive environment.

The Details

Sprout Lake is based in Verbank, NY and are looking for staff to join just from June 17th-August 17th. Salary ranges for these roles varies but housing accommodation and all meals are included.
