Position Overview
Provide overall leadership to Cornerstone’s worship ministry by providing guidance and vision in planning, executing, and evaluating all aspects of the church’s music and worship ministry, including the praise team, production team, and youth worship team.

Qualifications/Skill Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
- Music degree preferred. Biblical/theological training a bonus.
- Theologically competent according to EFCA standards.
- Prior worship leading experience required.
Shepherding:
- Person of Prayer – Cultivates an environment of prayer and leads by example while teaching others the discipline of prayer. (1 Thess 5:16-18)
- Shepherd’s Heart – Demonstrates the ability to shepherd and care for Cornerstone leaders, staff, volunteers, and congregation. Someone who is committed to building relationships of grace, trust, and teamwork among the staff and elders as a model of healthy body life for our entire church family. (1 Pet 5:1-5)
- Peacemaker – Promotes peace and mutual edification in all relationships. (Heb 12:14; Ps 34:14)
- Team Builder – Has both humility and strength of will and is able to develop and lead teams. Someone who is gifted, energetic and inspirational, who will cast a clear and compelling vision for the mission of Cornerstone Church and enable others to find, develop and act on their God-given calling. (Luke 14:10-11; 1 Cor 12:12; James 3:13)

Worship Leadership:
- Strong knowledge of corporate worship, music, and the techniques involved in leading modern praise bands.
- Appreciates and is able to implement a variety of musical styles including both traditional and contemporary.
- An accomplished singer, instrumentalist, and leader of other musicians.
- Demonstrates wisdom, spiritual sensitivity, emotional intelligence, and creativity in planning, organizing and leading corporate worship.
- Able to collaborate with volunteer technicians who run audio, video, and lighting to implement corporate worship.
- Passionate about developing personal gifts (musical and spiritual) and the gifts of others.
- Passionate about the role of the local church to make disciples who worship in Spirit and truth.
- Clear and compelling communicator for verbal transitions and other public speaking.
- Passionate about understanding and leading worship for all generations.
General Leadership:
- Takes initiative to openly communicate with other staff members and is responsive to others in their communication.
- Initiates conflict resolution in a biblical manner.
- Willing and able to serve under the leadership of the Senior Pastor who is under the leadership of the Cornerstone Elders.
- Willing and able to express personal preferences while prioritizing the needs of the church.

Responsibilities
Worship Leadership:
- Serve under and with the Senior Pastor to meet the needs and requirements of the worship ministry and to facilitate vibrant and theologically grounded corporate worship.
- Oversee the planning, coordination and leadership of all congregational worship (e.g. singing, prayer, Scripture reading, visuals) in all corporate worship services.
- Lead worship regularly as a part of Sunday morning services, special events, and special day programs (e.g. Christmas and Easter).
- Support and coach children’s and youth worship teams for the purpose of developing sustained, effective, and contextual Sunday morning and midweek worship leadership (not necessarily including direct involvement in services).
- Oversee music and production for occasional “Special Event” and “Special Day” programs (e.g. Christmas and Easter).
Administrative:
- Supervise worship ministry staff.
- Oversee a comprehensive budget for the Worship Ministry.
- Oversee and actively engage in the recruiting, equipping, and training of volunteers to accomplish necessary tasks for effective, vibrant worship ministry.
- Oversee the audio-visual needs of all Cornerstone ministries and spaces.
- Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in Cornerstone staff meetings, projects, and special events.
- Oversee and/or lead an occasional praise choir.
- Other duties as assigned.
Care:
- Shepherd and encourage worship volunteers to grow in their love of God and others.
- Provide other care services as called upon and as a part of the Pastor/Director team.
Flexibility
Job responsibilities are likely to shift as needs within the ministry change. It’s possible that the Pastor or Director of Worship Arts may be asked to give leadership to at least one other aspect of ministry at Cornerstone, depending on interests and competencies. Good communication and flexibility will be necessary.

- Other times, as needed, in coordination with supervisor
