Job Description:
We are offering an exciting opportunity for college-aged leaders seeking a transformative summer experience. The Wilderness Leader Internship is a unique immersion program focused on developing ministry capabilities as a Christian educator, mentor, and wilderness instructor. As a Wilderness Leader Intern, you will have the chance to discover and experience the thrill of teaching and leading in the wilderness classroom.
Internship Offerings and Details:
Participate in the 21-day Wilderness Leadership Expedition:
- Engage in our cornerstone leadership course for wilderness leaders.
Certifications Offered:
- Complete a Wilderness First Responder certification (valid for 3 years) from a nationally recognized school.
- Wilderness Water Safety certification from a nationally recognized organization.
Wilderness Instructor Training Seminar:
- Learn the various important roles of an outdoor leader through our Wilderness Instructor Training seminar.
- Receive training and practice in facilitating guided reflection for personal and spiritual growth.
- Learn and master various wilderness skills.
- Study the Biblical foundations of Christ-centered leadership.
- Engage in rigorous peer teaching, role-playing, and interaction involving wilderness skill instruction.
Practice Leadership in Outdoor Programs:
- Receive significant opportunities to practice leadership and actively lead in our outdoor programs.
Community Engagement:
- Participate in a healthy, vibrant Christian community at our historic Mink Lake Wilderness Camp.
Room and Board:
- Receive room and board at Mink Lake Wilderness Camp for the duration of the program.
Qualifications:
- Individuals with a passion for Christ, growing in faith, serving others.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Eager and willing learner.
- Commitment to personal and spiritual growth.
Application Process:
Interns will be selected through a competitive application process, and students chosen will have all course fees covered. Additionally, selected interns will receive a stipend following their field experiences.
