The Lakewood Internship & Fellowship Program is a six-week immersive summer experience that integrates real-world legal internships with leadership development, professional mentorship, and meaningful Jewish learning—all within a warm, growth-oriented community.
Students gain firsthand exposure to the legal field while connecting with accomplished attorneys, executives, and community leaders who share their drive for purpose and excellence.
Internship Experience
The core of the program is a Monday–Thursday internship hosted by respected law firms, legal departments, courts, and advocacy organizations. Internships are structured to provide meaningful participation in ongoing legal work, guided mentorship, and professional growth.
- Work alongside attorneys, paralegals, and clerks on research, case preparation, client communication, and administrative review.
- Host organizations include private law firms, public interest legal services, and corporate legal departments.
- Areas of focus include business law, real estate law, family law, criminal law, litigation, contract law, nonprofit law, and compliance.
- *Several internships are paid.
- Select placements may continue after the Fellowship concludes.
Leadership & Professional Development
Fellows build critical professional and interpersonal skills through structured networking and leadership programming.
- Weekly private dinners and roundtables with attorneys and business leaders.
- Small-group sessions on ethics, leadership, and communication in the legal profession.
- Practical guidance on law school preparation, networking, and developing a meaningful career in the legal world.
The Fellowship
The program begins with a four-day leadership and community orientation introducing Fellows to the Lakewood environment and one of the world’s foremost centers of Jewish learning and hospitality.
Ensuing weekend retreats and guided study sessions provide opportunities for reflection, connection, and growth. Learning experiences are accessible and engaging for students of all backgrounds.
- Seven weekend Shabbatonim (Thursday night–Sunday) in Lakewood, the Catskills, Monsey, and Far Rockaway. One weekend off is permitted.
- One-on-one study and interactive talks exploring themes of justice, ethics, and personal development.
Community & Program Life
- Housing provided at the new Torah Links Student Residence Hall in Lakewood, NJ.
- Transportation available for NYC interns who commute.
Application Deadline: Rolling admissions, limited spots
Eligibility: Open to university and pre-law students nationwide studying legal studies, political science, government, public policy, or related fields
