AAPC Foundation Summer Internship at EMC Research
The AAPC Foundation Summer Internship Program offers students a full-time, paid, nine-week applied learning experience with a designated AAPC member firm. Interns gain practical skills, professional networks, and insight into how campaigns, data, and technology shape civic engagement—preparing them to become the next generation of leaders in the field.
EMC Research is a majority women-owned, national, full-service opinion research firm specializing in polling, focus groups, analytics, and public opinion research consulting. EMC Research partners with clients to solve complex problems through well-executed research conducted by curious and passionate strategists who explore opinion and behavior with empirical rigor. Clients include political campaigns, government agencies, corporations, nonprofits, transportation agencies, healthcare organizations, and others. With offices in Seattle, WA, and Oakland, CA, EMC Research can host in-office, hybrid, or fully remote interns for Summer 2026.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with the Operations team to support polling and focus group projects, providing administrative support as needed
- Assist with background research for quantitative and qualitative projects
- Use tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and R to draft and edit client deliverables
- Support data processing and quality control tasks
- Participate in virtual client meetings and internal planning meetings, and engage with staff through a designated mentor
- Take on additional responsibilities based on skill level, interest, and expertise
This position is ideal for candidates who are:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Familiar with R, Python, or another coding language, and/or comfortable with database management using Excel or Google Sheets
- Interested in the social sciences, politics, campaigns, elections, or voter behavior
