Position Overview:

We are seeking a Media Production Assistant who is passionate about creating engaging video content and eager to grow their skills in a professional production environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable filming and editing in-house video projects, assisting with outdoor content when needed, and supporting the ongoing operation of Huntin’ Fool’s YouTube and media channels. This individual will work closely with our Media Producer to create high-quality instructional, educational, and product-focused videos while learning advanced production techniques on the job.

A standout candidate for this position will be comfortable operating mirrorless cameras, capturing clean audio, and assembling polished edits that follow a logical, engaging narrative flow. They will play a key role in publishing content to YouTube, creating thumbnails, managing metadata, and maintaining organized schedules while communicating effectively with the team.

Additionally, this individual may assist with in-house and outdoor product photography, monitor podcast filming, and occasionally participate in field shoots—including the potential to support hunt films or outdoor gear reviews. During the summer months, the Assistant Media Producer will help maintain consistent content output while the Media Producer is offsite in Alaska.

This role is part videographer, part editor, part YouTube publishing assistant—with plenty of room for growth. Expectations are high, but so is the opportunity for skill development, creative expression, and involvement in the hunting industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Video Production & Editing

  • Film and edit in-house video content, including product reviews, educational pieces, and instructional videos.

  • Create compelling, on-brand thumbnails as well as supporting assets for published content.
  • Maintain a consistent YouTube upload schedule and communicate progress to the team.

YouTube Management & Publishing

  • Upload videos to YouTube with proper titles, descriptions, tags, and thumbnails.
  • Coordinate basic SEO needs for video content in collaboration with the Media Producer.
  • Update production calendars and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Respond to comments on YouTube to foster audience engagement.

Photography & Podcast Support

  • Assist with in-house and outdoor product photography as needed.
  • Monitor podcast filming sessions to ensure smooth recording and production quality.

Field Production

  • Film outdoor content when needed, including gear reviews or on-location shoots.
  • Demonstrate physical capability to hike, carry equipment, and work in varying weather conditions.

Autonomy & Collaboration

  • Take projects from start to finish independently after training is complete.
  • Communicate clearly with the Media Producer and broader team to ensure alignment on priorities.
  • Maintain organized files, calendars, and production workflows.
  • Support content production during summer periods when the Media Producer is away.

Qualifications:

  • Moderate skill with mirrorless cameras, basic lighting, and core camera settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO).
  • Moderate proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, with a willingness to continue developing advanced editing techniques.
  • Ability to recognize strong storytelling/communication flow in video format and edit accordingly.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain schedules and manage production tasks.
  • Physically capable of filming outdoors, including hiking with gear.
  • Genuine interest in media production, content creation, and the hunting industry.
  • (Preferred) Experience filming and editing YouTube-style content or outdoor/action-oriented content.
  • (Preferred) General familiarity with YouTube Studio, metadata, and creator tools.
  • (Preferred) Prior involvement in hunting, outdoor recreation, or related fields.
