Job Summary
PSEG Long Island is looking for a Summer 2026 Technical Intern for the Environmental Compliance Department
This job involves working as a(n) Environmental Technical Intern to support day-to-day function of the Environmental Compliance Department including spill response documentation, company-wide solid and hazardous regulated waste management, investment recovery, and general environmental compliance.
This position will be Hybrid Flexible.
Job Responsibilities
Assignments will include working alongside professionals in the following areas:
- Assist in organizing spill documentation
- Participate in environmental site inspections at locations across the PSEG LI service territory
- Observe spill response efforts in the field under guidance of Environmental Compliance Supervisor
- Learn the process of spill tracking and closeout under guidance of Senior Technical Environmental Specialist
- Support in reviewing and paying invoices for solid waste services under guidance of Principal Environmental Specialists
Job Specific Qualifications
Required education/skills:
The successful candidate(s) must be actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited institution in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Analysis & Policy, or equivalent degree and graduating between December 2026 and May 2029. Students graduating in May/June 2026 are not eligible unless they are enrolling in a post-graduate degree program in the fall term of 2026. PSEG Long Island recognizes institutions of higher education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. Candidates must have completed freshman level course work for consideration.
Preferred skills:
- 3.0 GPA
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
- Enrolled in ROTC or Navy program
All PSEG Long Island internship roles are paid at an hourly rate, however there are no medical benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the duration of the summer internship. We are targeting currently enrolled/matriculating students that are able to commute to their designated work location as needed. Housing, transportation, and immigration support will not be provided in association with these positions.
