JC-502048 - Unit Chief / Supervisor I

The Office of AIDS (OA) is a division within the California Department of Public Health, Center for Infectious Diseases. The AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) Branch, within OA, helps ensure that people living with HIV/AIDS who are uninsured and under insured have access to medication on ADAP’s formulary. Insurance premium payment programs within the ADAP Branch provides assistance designed to ensure access to medical care and treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS.

The Staff Services Manager I (SSMI) of the Eligibility Unit 3 is responsible for the overall administration, development and implementation of the unit’s activities, including fiscal oversight and program operations. The SSMI works with staff to develop and implement standards for operation, evaluates program effectiveness and provide of technical assistance. Interacts with various levels of government, community-based HIV care and treatment providers, and other public and private stakeholders. Provides expert policy, programmatic and fiscal recommendations to the AIDS Drug and Assistance Program (ADAP) Section Chief; and is responsible for handling the most complex and/or sensitive assignments within the unit.

In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.
