Before and After School Childcare Aide

Summary:   Assists lead teacher in organizing and leading activities of children gr. K-5 in classroom/gymnasium setting and during outside activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Organizes and participates in games, arts, small and large motor, reading, writing and social skills activities (according to lesson plans by teacher).
• Helps with preparation and serving of afternoon snack. Includes cleaning up after snack is served.
• Takes children outside for large motor play.
• Helps children develop habits of caring for own clothing and picking up and putting away toys and supplies.
• Maintains discipline using positive methods.
• Assists teacher with clean up of classroom including emptying trash, vacuuming and/or sweeping floors and disinfecting table tops.
• Attends monthly staff meetings.
• Attends conferences and seminars in child development field.

Position is part-time split shift during the school year and full time during the summer.
