Assistant Scenic Carpenter

Slow Burn Theatre is looking for an Assistant Scenic Carpenter to help with the scenic build for the remainder of the 2025/26 season. Candidates should be local to South Florida. Hours are flexible based on availability. This is a 1099 position. 

Responsibilities Include:

Work under the Technical Director  to prepare, build, and modify scenery.

Assist in the repair, modification, or building of any shop improvements.

Assist in scenic load in/outs.

Work independently or as a team as assigned.

Keep the workspace clean and organized..

Maintain the highest quality standards

Work to meet deadlines. 

Adhere to all safety policies and procedures. 

Qualifications:

2+ (preferred) years of professional or educational experience in scenic construction. 

Basic knowledge of scenic construction techniques and materials.

Proficiency with hand and power tools required; including power saws, table saws, compound miter saws, powered drills, pneumatic fasteners, and others associated with construction. 

Ability to read and execute construction drawings.

Able to use and read a tape measure.

Possess strong critical thinking, attention to detail, problem solving, and organizational skills..
