Description: The Deputy I is an entry-level position within the Commissioner of the Revenue's Office. This role is responsible for providing administrative support in the assessment and record-keeping of all taxes assessed by the Commissioner’s office. This position serves as the foundation for a career in tax administration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accurate data entry and assessment of personal property such as vehicles, boats, mobile homes and business personal property.
Assisting taxpayers with inquiries related to personal property taxes.
Organizing and maintaining records, both physical and electronic.
Assist business owners with business licenses inquiries based on the type of business.
Strong emphasis on promoting a friendly and professional customer service focused environment in the Commissioner’s office.
This position will report directly to the Commissioner of Revenue.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three years related experience and/or training in general office work and dealing with the general public; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Supplemental Information
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as tax records, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
