Pre-Professional Medical Assistant
Pre-professional medical assistant position
Searching for candidates with a bachelor’s degree who are seeking health care experience during a gap year or years and can commit to a 1-2-year full-time position. We are open to candidates seeking part-time work while attending school, as George Mason is near our office. This position is perfect for those planning to apply to medical, optometry, or other health-related graduate programs.
Will gain valuable hands-on experience in a busy, reputable, privately owned optometric office, performing detailed medical histories, conducting diagnostic tests, assessing eye function, instructing patients in contact lens insertion and removal, scheduling appointments, etc. The assistant will also have the chance to learn directly from leading doctors in the field, who are willing to review cases and explain pathologies observed on scans and images.
Our practice is on the cutting edge of eye care. We treat glaucoma, remove foreign bodies, manage dry eye with advanced in-office procedures, fit specialty contact lenses for corneal disease, and prescribe myopia control for children to slow the progression of nearsightedness. We have advanced technology to support us, including a Virtual Reality Visual Field Tester (which you would learn to administer), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatment, and more.
We are looking for someone who is friendly, self-motivated, eager to learn, and has strong communication and organizational skills. Excellent customer service and dependability are a must. Training will be provided. Hours are full-time. We offer a positive, fun, and supportive work environment. We are happy to assist with letters of recommendation and want to support you in your ultimate professional goals.
