Intern - Engineering

POSITION SUMMARY:   

Tarkett is seeking candidates for a 12-month Internship (or Co-Op) to join our successful and growing team in Dalton, GA.  Assignments will be challenging, and experienced engineers/managers will mentor students in the Tarkett Internship Program. As an intern, you will get exposure to different parts of the Tarkett business and operations. Join a highly engaged group of passionate business professionals with long tenure in an organization that has a flat organizational structure and little hierarchy. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with safe work practices to ensure own safety as well as co-workers’ 
  • Work closely with cross functional teams to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of solutions deployed in support of business goals and objectives. 
  • Handle multiple projects and contribute to safety & quality assurance initiatives.
  • Analyze data, coordinate with applicable stakeholders, and assist in the implementation of new procedures/projects.
  • Gain exposure to our multiple business units within Operations and make an impact.
  • Gain exposure to cost control initiatives and budgeting.
  • Participate in meetings, project reviews, seminars, trainings, etc.
  • Take on additional responsibilities and projects as required.

 

REQUIREMENTS (including educational requirements):

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in any of these fields: 
    • Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Mechatronics, Controls/Automation, Chemical, etc.)
    • Quality Systems
    • Environmental / Industrial Safety
    • Business
  • Tools –Matlab, Microsoft Office (word, power point, excel).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized and able to work both as a team and independently.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Prior manufacturing-related experience or coursework is a plus but not required.

Duration and Compensation

  • 12 months, not weeks
  • Paid internship, rate depends on year in school
  • Relocation and/or housing is not provided
