Graphic Design Internship, Summer 2026

 

*This Graphic Design Internship is an in-office, nine-week summer position in Overland Park, KS from June 1 through July 31, 2026, and is for incoming college juniors or seniors. The pay is $20 an hour. Ad Astra does not provide relocation/ housing services.

POSITION SUMMARY 

The summer Design Intern supports Ad Astra’s marketing team by creating high-quality visual content that advances our brand and mission to improve student success in higher education. Working under the mentorship of the Senior Graphic Designer, the intern will gain hands-on experience across a wide range of digital and print design projects—campaign graphics, social media content, event collateral, presentation design, and more. 

 
POSTITION REQUIREMENTS 

Education & Experience 

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, digital media, or related field. 
  • Digital Portfolio that shows strong foundational design skills (typography, layout, color, composition). 
  • Some classroom, freelance, or student-organization design experience preferred. 

Technical Skills 

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign). 
  • Familiarity with Figma a plus. 
  • Basic understanding of design for digital channels (social, web, email). 
  • Interest or basic skills in motion graphics/video editing are welcomed but not required. 

Soft Skills 

  • Eagerness to learn and ability to accept and apply constructive feedback. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. 
  • Good communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple small projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
