Forestry & Recreation Assistant Administrator | Taylor County, WI
The full-time (40 hr/week) Forestry and Recreation Assistant Administrator will assist in the administration and supervision of forestry department timber, recreation, and wildlife programs; the development and implementation of silviculture strategies; the development, operation, and maintenance of county forest roads and dams; and the development and maintenance of snowmobile, ATV, and other recreational trail systems as directed.
Key responsibilities of this position include developing and implementing forest management plans; mark, cruise and appraise timber; prepare timber sale maps and prospectus for advertising; generate, inspect, and enforce timber sale contracts; prepare timber sale files; and maintain financial records.
Preferred candidates will have experience with Upper Great Lakes forest types, ESRI ArcMap – GIS software, third party forest certification, and heavy equipment operation and maintenance, including four-wheel drive tractors and skid steers with various attachments. Applicants must be familiar with Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Excel, Access, and Word.
Preferred candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in forestry from a Society of American Foresters (SAF) accredited university or college of forestry and a valid driver’s license.
Applicants should possess or have the ability to obtain a remote pilot (drone) certificate under the Federal Aviation Administration Small UAS Rule (Part 107) and a Wisconsin certified pesticide applicator certificate within one year of employment.
