GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Employees in this particular classification take and process applications for adults needing skilled and or domiciliary placement for these various Medicaid Programs; MAA, MAD, SAA & SAD. They also maintain these records and do periodic reviews of the cases as outlined in the Medicaid Manual.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES PERFORMED
- Takes and completes Medicaid applications according to rules and time standards set forth by the Division of Medical Assistance which administers the Medicaid program in North Carolina. This requires extensive knowledge and use of the on-line Medicaid and EIS Manuals.
- Interviews the client at initial application
- Explains programs, requirements and options
- Obtains and verifies required information
- Determines eligibility
- Completes scheduled program reviews
- Maintains and is responsible for the accuracy of Medicaid records
- Refers clients to other programs as appropriate
- Attends training events in order to maintain knowledge and proficiency
RECRUITMENT STANDARDS
Is proficient in the use of computers, calculators, copy machines, telephones, fax machines and other equipment necessary in carrying out her duties
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to deal effectively and compassionately with people from all walks of life
- Ability to organize work, follow instructions, make prudent judgments, achieve goals, bear up under pressure and maintain even work-flow
- Proficiency in use of computers, calculators, copy machines, telephones and other office equipment
- Possesses good communication skills including ability to write legibly and accurately
- Ability to abide by rules of confidentiality and to always be respectful of clients and co-workers
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Training and Experience Requirements - Two years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
