We are seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, and motivated team member to join our Quality Assurance Lab at our Savannah, GA plant as a Lab Technician I.
This role offers meaningful, real-world lab experience with exposure to quality systems, analytical testing, and food manufacturing standards.
Two bonus opportunities per year are available based on performance for full time employees.
Full Time Shift Schedule:
• Rotating 2 - 3 -2 Schedule
• 12-hour shifts
• Qualified interns must be able to work a consistent schedule

POSITION SUMMARY
The Lab Technician I supports Quality Assurance by performing routine chemical and physical laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
This role is ideal for individuals looking to build technical skills, gain exposure to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and work in a team-based manufacturing setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform physical and chemical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products
Verify results meet established product specifications
Accurately document results, issue Certificates of Analysis, and maintain lab records and databases
Prepare chemical solutions using standard formulas and procedures
Operate and assist with calibration of laboratory equipment, including:
Gas and liquid chromatographs
Balances, colorimeters, refractometers, spectrophotometers, and related instruments
Follow all laboratory safety requirements, including PPE usage and chemical handling procedures
Support routine lab maintenance, cleaning, and preventive maintenance activities
Maintain chemical inventory, ensuring safe storage, proper labeling, and disposal
Assist with data analysis, graphs, charts, and record audits
Support quality systems including HACCP, traceability, sanitation, and regulatory compliance
Assist with wastewater sample analysis as required
Participate in troubleshooting lab equipment or quality issues as needed
Follow all Fuji Vegetable Oil policies and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
Perform additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or a related field (completed or in progress)
Recent graduates or individuals approaching graduation are encouraged to apply
Internship, co-op, or lab coursework experience preferred
Qualified interns must be able to commit to a consistent work schedule
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Willingness to learn laboratory methods, instrumentation, and quality systems
Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends
Comfortable working in a manufacturing and laboratory environment
LANGUAGE, MATH & REASONING SKILLS
Ability to read and understand technical procedures and safety documentation
Ability to document results clearly and accurately
Basic understanding of math concepts such as percentages, ratios, and statistical data
Ability to solve routine problems and apply standard procedures with guidance
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Frequent standing; occasional walking, sitting, bending, and reaching
Use of hands to operate laboratory equipment and computer systems
Ability to taste and smell products (essential for quality evaluation)
Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds
Vision sufficient to read computer screens, labels, and lab instruments; ability to distinguish colors
