Science Teacher (Biology)

Orchard Farm School District is seeking a certified Science teacher to join our high school team!

Teachers are responsible for providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning.  This includes implementing effective curriculum, managing a positive classroom environment, utilizing technology for instruction and record-keeping, and actively collaborating with the school community to support student success.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree or higher
  • Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate (Biology 9-12)
  • Knowledge of state standards, federal and state regulations and law
  • Knowledge of subject matter content and assessment strategies
  • Knowledge of best practices in curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to relate to students, staff, and parents in a positive manner
  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form

Additional Position Information:

  • Biology or Physical Science 9-12 Certification Required
  • Additional 9-12 Science Content Certifications (i.e. Chemistry, Earth Science, etc.) is preferred
  • OFHS current student population approximately 750 (our district is rapidly growing)
  • New High School opened January 2024 with state of the art Science Labs
  • Comprehensive Science offerings include college credit/AP offerings, PLTW Biomedical Science Track, Agricultural Science courses and more
  • Extracurricular coaching and faculty advisor positions are also available for the 2026-2027 academic year

An individual who holds this position is required to:

  • Provide instruction to students
  • Create and implement a classroom disciplinary plan
  • Create lesson plans and activities to implement and supplement instruction
  • Participate in building, grade level and subject area committees
  • Maintain accurate student records including attendance, grades and discipline
  • Complete and submit forms and required reports in a timely manner
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and other educational concerns
  • Participate as a member of an IEP team, 504 team or other student assistance teams as requested
  • Implement special educational plans such as 504 plans, individual educational programs and individual health plans
  • Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination and harassments as directed by Board policy

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
 An individual who holds this position is required to:

  • Move around a classroom frequently.  Allocation of movement are generally 10% sitting, 45% walking and 45% standing.
  • Perform some lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Speak and hear in a noise environment with numerous conversations and activities

SALARY SCHEDULE Salary is based from years of experience teaching and degree per OFSD policy and procedure.  2026-2027 salary schedule will be updated upon Board of Education approval.
