Design & Art Direction Intern

Spring 2026| Paid | Hybrid NYC

ABOUT MILK AGENCY

Milk Agency is a boutique creative company working at the intersection of fashion, music, tech, and culture. Our work spans brand systems, campaigns, and cultural storytelling—often in fast-moving, ambiguous environments where taste and craft matter.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Design & Art Direction Intern who is a maker—someone who cares deeply about typography, spacing, hierarchy, and the discipline of the grid, with the curiosity to experiment. You’ll be embedded in the creative process, contributing directly to high-level projects with exposure to strategy and senior leadership. This is a high-impact opportunity for a designer looking to build a world-class portfolio through real work.

DETAILS
• Duration: Minimum 3 months
• Schedule: ~20 hours/week
• Location: Hybrid; ideally in-office (NYC) on Tuesdays and Thursdays (flexible to accommodate schedules)
• Requirements: Rising senior or recent graduate in Design or a related field
• Compensation: $20/hour
• Academic Credit: Available if applicable

WHAT YOU’LL DO

 • Design Execution: Support the team in building visual systems, brand identities, and campaign assets.
• High-Impact Collaboration: Help fill in the blanks on major projects, from resolving layout challenges to evolving concepts across formats.
• Ideation & Pitches: Generate ideas and assist in building presentation decks and visual narratives for clients.
• Visual Research: Pull references and stay closely tuned to fashion, film, tech, and design culture to inform creative direction.
• Creative & Production Support: Assist across the broader creative process as needed—this may include art direction support on set, helping prep visuals for shoots, and providing hands-on assistance during productions.
• Production-Oriented Design Support: Set up files, manage versions, and maintain clean, well-organized working documents.

WHO YOU ARE

 • The Tools: Highly proficient in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
• The Fundamentals: You have a deep understanding of layout, baseline grids, typography, and hierarchy.
• The Eye: You demonstrate strong visual judgment and an interest in editorial, and culturally forward design.
• The Other Things: Interest or experience in photography, video, motion, or AI tools is a strong plus. We value designers who experiment across mediums.
• The Mindset: You work quickly, have a point of view, and can take a brief and run with it. You’re organized, independent, and comfortable sharing your perspective.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

A portfolio is strictly required for consideration. Please include a link to your website or a PDF of your work with your application. We are looking for high-level taste and strong design fundamentals—applications without a portfolio will not be reviewed.
