Firm Overview
Nick Storhaug CPA is a well-established public accounting firm with over 40 years of experience serving individuals and small businesses in Southeast North Dakota. The firm is currently undergoing a technology transformation to enhance efficiency, analytics, and virtual service delivery in tax preparation, tax planning, and tax analysis through the use of modern accounting software and emerging technologies.
Internship Overview & Structure
This internship is designed to provide practical, hands-on experience in public accounting and taxation. Interns will complete approximately 12–15 days of in-office training at the firm’s Lisbon, North Dakota office. After successful completion of the onboarding and training period, qualified interns may transition to a remote work arrangement, subject to firm policies and strict adherence to data security and confidentiality requirements.
All work—whether in-office or remote—must be performed using firm-approved systems in compliance with internal security and data protection standards.
Key Responsibilities
Interns will support the firm’s tax and accounting operations and may be involved in the following activities:
Assist in the preparation of individual and small business federal and state tax returns
Organize, review, and input client financial data and supporting tax documentation
Perform basic tax research related to deductions, credits, and compliance requirements
Support tax planning and tax analysis projects under the supervision of senior staff
Assist with bookkeeping tasks, including reconciliations and data entry, as needed
Maintain client files and documentation in accordance with confidentiality and security policies
Duration
The internship is expected to last approximately 12 weeks, depending on academic schedules and firm needs.
