Advanced Practice Provider Emergency Room

Advanced Practice Provider, Emergency Department

 

  • Perform comprehensive assessments, formulate diagnoses, and develop treatment plans for patients presenting with emergent and urgent medical conditions.
  • Provide care across all areas of the Emergency Department, including fast-track, main ED, trauma bays, and observation areas as assigned.
  • Participate in the initial evaluation and stabilization of trauma patients under direction of the trauma and emergency teams.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies, prescribe medications, perform procedures, and initiate appropriate interventions within scope of practice.
  • Manage high-acuity and low-acuity patients while prioritizing care in a dynamic environment.
  • Document all patient encounters clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner in the electronic medical record.
  • Collaborate with emergency physicians, trauma services, nursing staff, consult services, and other disciplines to ensure coordinated, safe, and efficient care.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up needs.
  • Support ED operations through adherence to departmental protocols, clinical pathways, and quality initiatives.
  • Participate in continuing education, trauma training, and skill development to maintain competency in emergency and trauma care.
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week. The shifts covered are 7am – 7pm, 7 days per week or 9am – 9pm, Monday through Friday.


Qualifications:

  • Licensed to provide either advanced practice nursing services in the State of Illinois as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act OR physician assistant services as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987.
  • Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and State of Illinois for prescribing of narcotics.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certifications.
  • One-year of Emergency Medicine experience or Fellowship training required.
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hospital environment while maintaining patient-centered focus.
