Are you a recent college graduate planning a gap year before medical school, PA school, or NP training? Our busy, well-established dermatology practice is seeking motivated, curious, and hardworking graduates who want meaningful, hands-on clinical experience in a supportive learning environment.
We offer exposure to the full spectrum of medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology across seven practice locations. We are currently hiring Gap Year Medical Assistants for our offices in Dover and Londonderry.
Although our practice is fast-paced, we work closely as a team and prioritize a positive, approachable, and professional culture. Gap Year Medical Assistants are treated as valued members of the care team and are encouraged to ask questions, learn actively, and grow clinically.
This position is ideal for students preparing for medical school, PA school, or NP programs. We offer a structured Gap Year Medical Assistant curriculum designed to support professional school preparation, including mentorship and guidance throughout the application process.
Clinical experience is broad and customizable based on your interests and goals. You will gain:
- Extensive direct patient interaction
- Experience in obtaining focused yet thorough patient histories
- Training in presenting patients to senior providers and attending physicians
- Opportunities to communicate results and follow up with patients
- Hands-on procedural experience, from minor biopsies to larger surgical excisions
- Dermatology tech certification
Most Gap Year Medical Assistants remain with us for 1–2 years, depending on individual academic timelines and goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Completion of pre-medical, biological science, or physical science coursework
- Strong interest in a future career in medicine or advanced practice nursing
