Location: Remote Report to: Iris B.S.
Commitment: Part-time (flexible hours), Unpaid

Duration: Summer 2025, 8–12 weeks. Interns may choose to continue into the following semester, or the project may be transitioned to a new group of students for continued development.

About the Opportunity:

We need interns experienced in Xcode!

We’re an early-stage founder-led startup building an innovative app in the fitness and wellness space. While the concept is currently under NDA, we’re solving a real problem in how people connect with movement, motivation, and mindset. available in the iOS platform. The app will be developed for the iOS platform. This is a hands-on role — perfect for someone who wants to go beyond the classroom and build something from the ground up alongside the founder.

Internship Overview:
This internship offers an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the early development of a mobile fitness app. Interns will collaborate closely with the founder, taking an active role in shaping the functionality and user experience of the product.

What You’ll Do:

• Collaborate directly with the founder to turn an idea into a working app.

• Help design and develop the frontend (what users see) and/or backend (how it works).

• Give input on user experience, features, & design.

• Build your portfolio with real, shipped work.

This internship invites motivated and skilled developers to lead key parts of an early-stage app project in the health and fitness space. Interns will drive feature development, solve technical challenges, and work closely with the founder to shape & launch key functionalities. This role is ideal for self-starting individuals eager to make a tangible impact through their skills.

Job Specifications, Standards, and Requirements:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Proven experience in mobile or web application development through coursework, personal projects, or internships.

• Proficiency in at least one relevant programming language or framework (e.g., React Native, Flutter, Swift, Kotlin, JavaScript).

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and debug code effectively.

• Familiarity with version control systems and collaborative development workflows.

Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate with non-technical team members.

Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working in an early-stage, fast-paced startup environment.

Since the goal is to launch this app on Apple's iOS platform it would be a plus to have experience in Xcode.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this internship, the student will be able to:

Apply software development skills in a real-world mobile app project

Contribute to app architecture decisions for an iOS environment

Collaborate in an agile, founder-driven startup setting

Gain experience working with design, development, and product alignment

Build and present a tangible portfolio project with professional impact

Internship Duration
This internship is expected to run from July to September 2025, with flexibility based on academic schedules. The role is part-time (10–20 hours per week) and remote.

Note on Compensation & Compliance
This internship is currently unpaid. However, equity or revenue-sharing opportunities may be considered for key contributors once the app is monetized. This internship complies with the U.S. Department of Labor’s guidance for unpaid internships under Fact Sheet #71, available at: dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/whdfs71.htm

Special Requirements: A signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) will be required prior to discussing project details.

As a founder-led startup, we’re currently in the development stage. While this role is unpaid, we plan to offer early team members and/or early contributors equity or revenue shares once the app is launched and generating revenue. Equity discussions will be revisited at that time based on contribution and commitment.
