Policy Internship
The Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) has openings in our Policy division for the summer internship Program. The Nuclear Energy Institute (www.nei.org) is the policy organization of the nuclear energy and technologies industry and participates in both the national and global policy-making process. NEI’s mission is to ensure the implementation of policies that promote the beneficial uses of nuclear energy and technologies in the United States and around the world. To that end, NEI works to establish unified industry positions on the regulatory aspects of generic operational and technical issues. NEI's members include all entities licensed to operate commercial nuclear power plants in the United States, nuclear plant designers, architect/engineering firms, fuel fabrication facilities, nuclear materials licensees, and other organizations and entities involved in the nuclear energy industry.
Interns at NEI will work with seasoned nuclear professionals in the technical and regulatory services, communications, policy development & public affairs, government relations, legal, and member relations and corporate services areas on issues critical to the industry. Internships are 10 weeks and take place during the summer. The hourly wage is $18.00/hour. All applicants must submit an application that includes a resume and a copy of their transcript. Applicants chosen for an interview will be asked to meet by video conferencing.
The Policy division internship will specifically focus on supporting nuclear energy policy efforts at the federal and state levels, and interns will have opportunities to work across division efforts including grasstops and grassroots advocacy, community engagement, developing a nuclear energy customer base and engaging with the financial community. Work products may include qualitative and quantitative research depending on background, as well as support of key events. The Policy internship is also focused on providing networking opportunities with external supportive organizations and will include opportunities to attend events and report on discussions.
