About Artist Desk
Artist Desk is an innovative platform built for independent musicians. We combine project management, music catalog management, cloud storage, and analytics dashboards (Spotify, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, SoundCloud) into one seamless experience. Our platform helps artists manage demos, masters, and releases while streamlining collaboration and feedback—all accessible from desktop and mobile.
We're a music tech startup on a mission to empower independent artists with professional-grade tools that don't require a record deal. We are currently pre-launch and looking for creative help to build our educational content and strategy.
What You'll Do (5-6 Hours Per Week)
This micro-internship is structured around creating app training videos and developing pre-launch content strategy. You'll work 3 days per week for 1.5-2 hours each, with a quick daily Google Meet check-in on work days.
1. App Training Video Creation (3-4 hours/week)
Create short-form tutorial videos that teach independent musicians how to use Artist Desk features.
- Create 2-3 videos/week (15-90 seconds each)
- Topics: Feature walkthroughs ("How to upload a demo"), quick tips, and problem/solution videos
- Format: Screen recordings with voiceover, mobile-friendly (9:16 vertical), engaging and authentic style
- Style: Casual, musician-to-musician tone (not corporate)
2. Pre-Launch Content Strategy (1-2 hours/week)
Help develop Artist Desk's content strategy leading up to our launch.
- Brainstorm 5-7 social post concepts/week for Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn
- Plan educational content that addresses independent artist pain points
- Research music industry trends and competitor content strategies
- Help shape our pre-launch messaging and "why we built this" narrative
3. Music Community Engagement (30-60 min/week)
Represent Artist Desk in existing online music communities.
- Engage with musicians on Reddit (r/musicproduction, r/independentmusic), Facebook groups, and Discord
- Share helpful tips and build relationships with potential users
- Gather feedback and insights from real artists
4. Daily Check-Ins (15 min/week)
- Three times per week, jump on a 5-minute Google Meet call with the team.
- Timing: Monday-Friday between 7am-5pm (your time zone)
- Purpose: Align on priorities, clear blockers, and get quick feedback.
Work Schedule & Flexibility
Check-ins: Must happen Monday-Friday between 7am-5pm (on your work days).
Actual Work: Can be completed anytime that fits your schedule—immediately after check-in, evenings, or weekends.
Example Schedule 1 (Traditional):
- Monday 9:00am: 5-min Google Meet → Work 9:05am-11:00am
- Wednesday 2:00pm: 5-min Google Meet → Work 2:05pm-4:00pm
- Friday 10:00am: 5-min Google Meet → Work 10:05am-12:00pm
Example Schedule 2 (Flexible):
- Tuesday 8:00am: 5-min Google Meet → Work Tuesday 8:00pm-10:00pm (evening)
- Thursday 11:00am: 5-min Google Meet → Work Thursday 9:00pm-11:00pm (weekend)
- Friday 3:00pm: 5-min Google Meet → Work Saturday 7:00pm-9:00pm (evening)
Total: 3 check-ins + 5-6 hours of focused work per week.
Compensation & Payment
Hourly Rate: $15/hour (legally compliant nationwide)
Weekly Hours: 5-6 hours
Weekly Earnings: ~$75-90
Monthly Earnings: Approximately $300-360
Payment Schedule: Bi-weekly via Zelle
Qualifications
Required:
- Pursuing a degree or career in Media, Music Business, Marketing, Communications, Film/Video Production, or related field
- Comfortable creating video content (screen recordings, voiceovers, simple edits)
- Schedule Availability: Must be available for 3 quick Google Meet check-ins per week (Mon-Fri, 7am-5pm)
- Passion for music and independent artists
- Strong storytelling and communication skills
- Reliable internet connection and computer/laptop
- Experience creating Youtube,TikToks, Reels, or YouTube Shorts
- Basic video editing skills (CapCut, iMovie, ScreenPal, etc.)
Preferred (but NOT required):
- Familiarity with design tools like Canva
- Understanding of music production workflows or artist tools
- Interest in startups and tech products
