Academic Services Graduate Assistant

This Service-Learning Excellence (SLE)/Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Graduate Assistant (GA) position will assist the administrative staff in these two programs within Academic Services. For SLE, the GA will provide support for 10 hours per week by managing its sales center operations. This role involves ensuring smooth communication with service-learning students and maintaining efficient order and inventory processes. Occasional administrative or support tasks, such as event participation or general office tasks, may also be required. Ability to think critically, analyze and solve customer issues, communicate clearly and effectively, strong organizational skills and time management skills, ethical job performance and openness to feedback are required. All work for this portion of the position will be performed on site in Nueces 233. The Assistant Director for the EXC2EL Center supervises the GA for SLE operations. 

For TSI, the GA will provide support for 10 hours per week by assisting the Texas Success Initiative Assistant Director and the Administrative Assistant III in the day-to-day operations of the TSI Office with emphasis on assisting students during registration periods and New Student Orientation, which includes summer sessions. Daily tasks include working with students in person, over the phone, and via email, so strong verbal and written communication is required. All work for this portion of the position will be performed on site in Trauth-Huffman Hall 125.

Evaluation will be based on a performance scale (exceeds/meets/fails to meet expectations) and will be conducted on an informal basis periodically by the supervisor with a final formal evaluation to be completed when the work period is complete. This position is guaranteed for spring 2026 – summer 2026 with possible continuation through the selected applicant’s application date if there is the need and if the final formal evaluation supports a continuation of employment.
