EDUCATION INTERNSHIP
The Education Intern works hand-in-hand with full-time professional staff, learning the inner workings of a vibrant education program during Peninsula School of Art’s busiest season. The Education Intern is a key member of PenArt’s operations and team who helps contribute to customer service goals and the successful execution of education programs for all ages. Interns enjoy working in a fast-paced but casual workplace and love interacting with everyone from high-caliber artists to students in an upbeat and friendly manner. Versatility is important as education programs change on a weekly basis, as well as flexibility, patience, and compassion to respond to the changing needs of PenArt’s programs and constituents.
Primary responsibilities include:
● Assist the staff in the day-to-day management of the school, including opening and closing the building, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, and greeting students and visitors.
● Maintaining the weekly schedule and providing general support for workshops and programs, including preparing rosters and class signs, assisting in studio setup and teardown, and checking in students on class start dates.
● Serving as one of the main customer service contacts for program participants.
● Working in the Summer Studios for Young Artists Program, including preparing materials, maintaining supply closets and inventory, monitoring snack breaks, helping in the classroom, and filling in for instructors in the event of absence.
● Assisting adult faculty as needed, such as providing technical support, preparing materials, or cleaning equipment and tools.
● Helping to maintain the firing schedule in the ceramics studio to keep youth and adult works moving through the bisque firing, glazing, and glaze firing process.
● Other tasks as assigned.
Compensation:
This internship is part of the Lawrence-Funded internship program. The student selected for this internship will receive a $4k stipend to help cover housing and transportation costs and living expenses.
