- Responsible for supervising district wide Special Education programming and federal and state compliance (PK- 22 high school graduation /transition); nursing services, Section 504 compliance, English as a Second Language services (ESOL) and McKinney-Vento liaison.
- Serve as Title IX, Human Rights Coordinator; investigate Title IX complaints for district.
- Oversee development, presentation and implementation of Student Services budget.
- Supervise and evaluate six direct reports (special education directors in each building).
- Oversee hiring and supervision of professional and support staff.
- Oversee staffing and programming for identified special education students.
- Oversee staffing and programming for students serviced under Section 504 plans.
- Manage strategic plan initiatives for Student Services Department in conjunction with Assistant Superintendent to be included in district’s overall strategic plan.
- Maintain and update district Local Plan for the implementation of IDEA.
- Complete all State NHDOE reporting requirements for SPP Indicators and Special Education Aid invoicing through NHSEIS.
- Authorize and execute contracts with outside agencies and service providers, including negotiating bus contracts for specialized transportation with the School Business Administrator.
- Develop Federal IDEA grant activity areas in coordination with the Business Administrator and Superintendent.
- Oversee School to Medicaid program
- Act as foster care liaison for students in DCYF custody
- Supervise case manager for out of district students including charter school placement and court placed students.
- Court liaison for active court involved students
- Oversee specialized transportation for school year and Extended School Year students; trouble shoot bussing issues and driver concerns
- Oversee staffing and programming for Extended School Year Summer programming.
- Act as a liaison for the Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendents regarding issues of concern related to Special Education and Student Services.
- Coordinate District special education programs in accordance with Board policy, goals, and objectives; Department of Education rules and regulations; and federal laws and regulations. Develop long and short-range special education plans. Collaborate with staff to ensure the appropriate inclusion of special education students in all subject classes, school programs, and activities. Assist in planning and implementing programs that support alignment of learning standards with effective special education teaching practices.
- Articulate and implement a clear vision for moving special education students on a service continuum from the least restrictive environment (LRE) to inclusion in regular education classes.
- Coordinate special education evaluations and assessments along the continuum of settings always considering the least restrictive setting and inclusion in the general education classroom.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Superintendent.
