Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Description
The NSF EPSCoR CREST Center for Adaptive Nanomotor Design at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the laboratory of Dr. Micquel Downs in the Department of Genetics. The Fellow will be a part of a multidisciplinary team investigating biochemical and biophysical mechanisms of kinesin motor design at the atomic, molecular, and organismal level.
Qualifications
We are seeking applicants with a strong background in protein biochemistry and molecular biophysics. Candidates should have extensive experience performing bacterial expression and purification of recombinant proteins using affinity and size-exclusion chromatography. Experience with enzymatic kinetic assays and/or x-ray crystallography is highly desirable. Strong candidates will demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Individuals who hold, or are near completion of, a Ph.D. or equivalent degree are eligible. US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.
