Job Summary
The IT Help Desk & Security role within the Health Care Services industry is pivotal in ensuring seamless operation and protection of critical information systems. This position is responsible for providing first-line technical support to staff, resolving IT issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain high-quality service. Additionally, the role involves implementing and monitoring security protocols to safeguard sensitive data and comply with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with IT teams and corporate professionals to identify vulnerabilities and enhance system resilience against cyber threats. Ultimately, this role ensures that technology infrastructure supports the organization's mission to deliver safe, efficient, and secure services.
Essential Functions
This section provides a high-level summary of the main functions of the position and is not an exhaustive list of all duties required to perform this role.
- Provide mostly L1 support, some L2 work, some assistance with implementing policy requirements, and helping build automated workflows
- Collaborate with an external IT service provider for most L2 work, complex L3 work, and cybersecurity
- Provide timely and effective technical support to staff via phone, email, or in-person to resolve hardware, software, and network issues
- Monitor and maintain security systems, including firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection tools, to protect patient data and IT assets
- Assist in the implementation and enforcement of IT security policies and procedures in compliance with government contract and healthcare regulations
- Conduct regular system audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate potential security risks
- Document support activities, security incidents, and resolutions accurately to maintain compliance and facilitate continuous improvement
- Collaborate with IT and clinical teams to deploy updates, patches, and new technologies that enhance system performance and security
- Educate staff on best practices for IT security and safe use of technology resources
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field at minimum; bachelor’s degree in information technology, cybersecurity, or related discipline is preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in IT support or help desk roles, preferably within healthcare and/or government regulated industries
- Basic understanding of network protocols, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and common healthcare software applications
- Familiarity with healthcare data privacy regulations such as HIPAA
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Healthcare IT Professional (CHITP)
- Experience with Applicant Tracking systems, Human Resources, Payroll, and Finance systems is preferred; experience with healthcare-specific platforms is a plus
- Knowledge of advanced cybersecurity tools and incident response procedures
- Previous experience working in a healthcare environment or with healthcare compliance frameworks
- Knowledge of security protocols and regulatory requirements is applied continuously to monitor systems and respond to potential threats, ensuring patient data confidentiality and integrity
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite is a must; Google Workspace is a plus
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and provide general technical training
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Accountability
- This is a hybrid remote position and will mostly be performed out of the employee’s home-based office. Individual must have discipline to work in this work environment and need to be reliable and readily available throughout the workday.

Expected Hours of Work
Your work schedule may vary depending on your position with the Company. Our corporate business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm Eastern. Your start time should be discussed and approved by your immediate supervisor if you wish to deviate from the normal operating hours. Employees may be required to work additional hours in order to successfully complete work obligations. Non-exempt employees are required to obtain prior approval from their immediate supervisor before working overtime.
