Member Services Attendant

On-Campus ACA Variable Position

Member Services Attendant 

Responsibilities:

Job Summary
The Member Services Attendant will represent the face of Campus Recreation and will be responsible for 
providing excellent customer service and guest experiences and will ensure a safe environment 
at the Fieldhouse Service Desk, ARC Service Desk, ARC Check Desk and
roving positions.
Job Duties
Customer Service 
• Adhere to the standards outlined in on-boarding trainings while demonstrating an 
enthusiasm for enhancing the overall guest experience.
• Greet and welcome all guests to Campus Recreation facilities while assisting with any 
questions regarding Campus Recreation programs, services, policies, and/or activities. 
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all Campus Recreation programs, services, 
and activities.
• Serve as a brand ambassador for Campus Recreation to help increase program 
awareness and participation.
Recreation Operations
• Handle all point-of-sale interactions including memberships, locker and equipment 
rentals, ticket sales, and all other retail sales.
• Understand and politely enforce Campus Recreation policies.
• Understand all Campus Recreation software programs including Canvas, Fusion, Clover, 
Slack, When to Work, EMS, Coursedog and Connect2Concepts. 
• Promptly respond to emergency situations and assist the Facility Supervisor in 
administering appropriate care and/or calling Emergency Medical Services if needed.
• Serve as spotter for patrons performing various lifts
• Assist with facility cleaning and equipment wipe down tasks as prompted by 
supervisors. Assist with sanitation station restock and laundry processes as needed.
• Light cleaning and custodial duties as assigned, including sanitation and organization of 
facility exercise equipment, rental gear, event areas, and work stations. 
Other Responsibilities
• Maintain collaborative relationships and open communication with all Campus 
Recreation professional staff members and all other USU Departments.
• Assist staff members in event management, light custodial, equipment setup and teardown, and special project tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
• Willingness to work mornings, nights and weekends as assigned
• Previous work experience in customer service
• Ability to communicate effectively with other students, faculty, staff, and community
• Ability to adhere to proper cash management procedures, enforce policies, and be 
willing to promote Campus Recreation programs
• Ability to routinely lift up to 75lbs 
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous work experience in retail sales
• Previous work experience in facility or recreation operations
• Existing knowledge of weight room fitness equipment as well as knowledge of proper 
spotting techniques
• Previous experience in responding to emergency situations
• Current certification in CPR, First Aid, AED, or ability to complete training within two 
weeks after hiring date

 

Indoor/Outdoor Duties:
The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work each department performs. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, in an office space, event space, or public space are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents may nearly continuously sit and often use repetitive hand motion (such as typing). 
Intensive Physical Duties:
This position requires considerable physical activity.  Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting (up to 75 lbs.) and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects. Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions, such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting.  Employees may work outside and will not be protected from weather conditions, including extreme cold and extreme heat for extended periods.
