Hours/Week: 10 hours a week
Wage/Salary: This position is paid a $800 stipend at the end of the semester. If the student has Federal Work Study as part of their financial aid package, they may be eligible for an hourly wage of $16/hour in lieu of the stipend.

About TAC
The Textile Arts Center of Madison (TAC) is a nonprofit arts organization serving as a hub for the fiber arts community. TAC offers a wide variety of classes and workshops for adults and youth, exhibitions of contemporary fiber art, special events, community outreach programming, and serves as a center for creative use for textile art supplies.
About the Role
The Program Coordinator (PC) will provide on-site support for a variety of ongoing fiber arts programming and will give the intern an opportunity to observe and participate in the wide range of programming and administration that may take place at an arts nonprofit.
This role may include working with TAC staff on exhibition programming and gallery maintenance; assisting with free community programming, both at TAC and at off-site (when possible); assisting with donations for creative reuse and supporting TAC resale programming; supporting TAC workshops and Open Studio. The PC will serve as a public face for the organization during their shifts, meeting members, studio members, and volunteers.
Responsibilities
- Gallery and Exhibitions:
- Assist our Artistic Director to ensure the gallery is prepped for exhibitions.
- Assist in the installation and deinstallation of artworks.
- Greet community members visiting TAC exhibitions.
- Community Programming:
- Assist our Volunteer and Event Manager to organize and execute free fiber arts programming to take place at TAC and occasionally off-site.
- Donations for Creative Reuse:
- Assist our Volunteer and Event Manager to receive, organize, and redistribute donations for creative reuse.
- Workshops:
- Assist teaching artists with load-in and additional set-up, as needed.
- Greet workshop participants, volunteers, artists, and members, facilitate related tasks.
- Provide support to teaching artists throughout workshop as needed.
- At close of workshop work with teaching artist to ensure space is cleaned up. Assist teaching artists will load-out, as needed.
- Open Studio:
- Studio organization and general maintenance.
- Open Studio communications that mat include marketing/advertising, scheduling and monitoring, studio member orientation and equipment/tool training.
Note: Additional opportunities related to fiber art and/or regular programming could be included in the position if time allows and if candidate has existing related expertise.
Skills and Qualifications
- General knowledge of and experience with a variety of fiber arts a plus.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- Capable of working independently.
- Ability to multitask effectively in an environment with many possible things happening at once.
